Hey ya'll,
I told that I was back in full swing and I am mad about that shyt that went down. For starters I am pretty sure that all of you have heard the hoopla and can really feel me on this one. The Boyz don't have to play seconds to nobody in my book and especially to no damn Justin Timberlake!!! Now I could see them helping the old man out (Al Green) but J.T hell naw!!! They have come too far in their career to have to do something like that. J.T should have been doing background for them!!
Now I do understand that it was a last minute and that Chris Brown got caught up on some stuff I am sure he regret now with Rhianna and from what I hear the Boyz were actually asked to perform at the very last minute while in route to the show but them damn Grammy organizers should have put their heads together and did some better last minute shuffling around. But since the guys are such professionals they worked up under that last-minute pressure and made the best of it..and I commend them for it!!! And with that said that is why they are my musical heroes!! I think that they should have been apart of the Four Tops performance since they did the song on the Motown album and let Ne-Yo and Jamie do something else. Besides they need a little bit more time in the game before they start stomping with the big dogs!! It would have went down as a memorable Grammy performance for them to be able to perform with the only surviving Four Top member.
However the bright side of all of this is the guys did get their air time and people see other than us that they are still making it do what it do after all these years and they still managed to be nominated for a Grammy regardless to having hardly any air play with the Motown album. They truly deserved the nominations that they received because they worked really hard and they put all they had into making this a successful project. The album is truly great and I still say the only reason that they did not win is because the Grammy peeps never listened to the album!! It was mentioned that one of the guys said that their appearance on the show may open up new doors for them so if this is true then we are about to witness another great musical chapter in the Boyz career!!! Bring it on and that is no bullshit!!!

Well, I think I pretty much said what I had to say re the Grammys. I wish I had never seen THE performance. We didn’t get to see the Grammys in our part of the world, so I was blissfully unaware of what went on until the next morning when I read the reactions to the show and the way the guyz were treated. I even tried to be the voice of reason and tell people that they shouldn’t be surprised, shocked, pissed, angry..... because it's the ways of the music industry. It's been like this for the last 10+ years. But then I saw the performance on YouTube! I actually had to watch it a few times to process what had just happened. Why one of the greatest singing groups of our era would get mistreated like that is beyond me. Last minute or not…it doesn't matter. It was heartbreaking to watch them sing backup for JT. I did not expect them to win, from what I could see they looked great on the red carpet, their name was mentioned a couple of times during the show, that was all great, but the performance… Sure they did their thing, they were professional as always, but from where I was standing it did not look good. Backup for JT???! If anything it should be the other way around. It’s just not the natural order of things. They could have at least been given a verse or sing along JT and Al. I mean, even Keith Urban had a solo, but the guyz were just… there. Even when Al Green called them out and they stopped the band, Wan started doing his thing but Justin started screaming right over him...that whole mess was just too loud.
The way I see it, they need to win back as many of their old fans as possible. By old fans I mean people who think II was their last album. Ok, some stopped listening to them cause they didn’t like their music anymore, so to hell with those. And some stopped listening to them cause they didn’t know they had new albums out and they need to win as many of those back. But somehow I can’t imagine any one of those people going out and buying Hitsville or any other of their albums after seeing that performance. They might go out and buy one of Justrin’s albums if they don’t already have, they might buy Al’s new album, they might even check out Keith Urban, if they didn’t know him well, but where where the guyz?
I do hope it was worth it, for their sake but I don’t know….
It seems that we are on the same page but hey we shall see in due time what will come out of this...
Well my thoughts on this whole thing is kinda similiar to U guyz. Me personally, I felt that the Boyz should have be given the opportunity to sing that song because it's one of the songs that they remade on their latest album!! I didn't know at first that they were gonna sing until they announced it. I was sooo Happy when I did see them on stage and I just knew that they were gonna get their chance to shine and show the audience that their still here; However that was not the case!! Yall should have seen me. I was screaming at the TV like" Let My Boyz Sing!!!!!" I don't think that they should have had JT up there singing while my Boyz were in the back looking like some Background singer's. I was Pissed and I'm preety sure most of their fans felt the same way.
The little part that Wan did have wasn't even enough in my opinion because you heard him and then you didn't. Now I did see them on the Red Carpet and they looked Fine as ever!! So I'm happy that they were acknowledged in that sense but they weren't when it came to that performance. We all know that the BOYZ WOULD HAVE TORE THAT STAGE UP!!!!!!! But If the (Grammys) does open up more doors for the guyz, then I'm all for it. We all are in support of them and love them. After seeing that though, the Grammys kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. U know what I mean. This was definately a Bullshit move. I jus want what's best for the Boyz!!!!
I agree. I saw the Red carpert today and yes they looked fine as hell and I got made at Lisa Rinna because on her fashion police segment the people that were on there with her said that the guys did not look good in their suits now that was some Bullshit!!!
I'm not upset.........due to the circumsatances and the nature of the business.........it's just something one gets used to. The Grammy's and so many award shows don't garner the ratings they once did say in the 80's! It's very political. I think the best we all can do is to continueto support BIIM in thier musical endeavors. because they didn't WIN is relative! To sell a million copies of an album after contined struggle is HUGE! Alot of the artists you won't see them in 5-10 years. BIIM are still around and being nominated in this day and time will keep them on top! I do appreciate the fact that they stepped in a supportive role much like everybody else under the circumsatnces. When thier next album drops make sure you buy 2 copies! We want thi one to be double platnium!
